I want to write all these in Chinese but i cannot type quickly in chinese and so by the time i have finished typing, i would have forgotten what i wanted to write. Life is full of uncertainities, full of events and happenings that will take place and it is hard to predict. Therefore, the meaning of life to me would be to discover, to observe and to accept these happenings. Perhaps my phrasing of these sentences feels weird but i am unable to totally express what i wanted to say in English. However, i will try my best. Let me state three exampes which can better portray the meaning i have found in life. The first example: After watching 步步惊心, a Chinese drama show that portray the life in the palace of china around 300 years ago, I came to this conclusion. In the drama, it shows that the life in palace is not an easy place to be in. If one is smart and knows how to please the emperor, but not by bootlicking, one will be able to enjoy a good life. However, it is not as easy as it sounds. As long as one says something wrong, be it in front of the emperor or people with high authority, one's head will roll on the ground. Hence, to be able to survive, one have to be very careful in his words and the relationship with people. Because of survival, many stoop to low tricks to get rid of their enemies so that they can enjoy the life in palace. Sometimes, what one says may not be what it sounded like. Often, there is a hidden meaning behind these words. Such thing of having to read between the lines can happen in a society of so many years ago, not to mention the society now. I would compare the life now to the life in the past. It feels to me that the battle of the strongest never ends. If people in the past needed to fight a battle of the strongest and be wary of each other, i would say the same goes for the society now. Only the strongest, the fittest, te best survives. For instance, being to be able to read between the lines. Even in the society now, many people still have hidden meaning between their words and to be able to understand the meaning and not just hearing the words is a battle. Why would I say that it is a battle? Because I feel that it is not easy to understand. For me, my friends say that I am mature. But till now, I am still unable to read between the lines. I have always wondered why do people have to act in this way and be unfriendly towards each other. I have not been able to understand why. However, this has made me understand that this is life. Not to say that I agree that because life is like that and therefore I accept to this destiny. But more to i feel that this is a challenge in life that i feel that everyone have to face. This is the life and society that I have been born in, and this is my meaning of life. Why do I live? It is no longer just being born, going to school and work and eventually dying. It is now more than that that I feel life have to offer. It is now overcoming the obstacles I face. For now, i have shown the first example. Two other examples will be discussed further in my next posts. |
